Junior bandy tournament underway in Astana
The first national junior bandy tournament is continuing in Astana. The contest, which is underway at the Alau ice palace, involves four teams of athletes aged between 16 and 17 years old.
As a result of the recent games, the team of Uralsk is leading the table being followed by the teams of Petropavlovsk and Khromtau. The Astana team is in fourth place. This sport is now taking its first steps in the capital city whereas the participating team already has enough experience in playing bandy. According to the Astana team coach Valery Skuchalin, such tournaments are very important for the development of this spectacular winter sports in the country and are a milestone in the preparations for the Student Winter Games in Almaty.
